25 more to Day2, Unguendoli chipleader at Day1G

entries 110 / left 25

Golden evening

Going through the tables towards the end of Day1G, in an attempt to figure out who will get the €2,000 prize reserved for the chip leader, we find someone who seems to be more interested than us.

It's a gaudy Francesco Unguendoli, who at the end of the penultimate hand gets up in a hurry to see whether or not someone at the next table has made a splash.

Chips in the middle but no upsets as far as the provisional ranking is concerned and so, Francesco, can play the last hand of the day with a smile and then bag 562,000 chips:

"Everything paid off, so far" - leaks out among the comments of the other players to the good, and lucky, chip leader, who with the switch down of the blinds will find himself a nice capital to administer.

The second, third, and fourth positions were also rewarded, with BORIS PUSTOVRH(439000) cashing for 1,250, while ROBERTO ANTONIO PALMIERI (433000) and EDOARDO ANTONIOLI (411,000) settled for 1,000 and 750 respectively.

The latter managed to snatch fourth position right on the money, with a beautiful value-bet to mask a runner-runner flush with K♠️ J♠️ on J❤️-T♠️-9♦️-7♠️-4♠️, while his opponent check-called with his 8x in a three-way mega-pot with Spaniard Adrian Govea Quevedo (Day1B chip leader in the last IPS of records) already all-in preflop.

The rest of the crew

There was no joy for the online grinders in the room: among the most notable were Andrea Shehadeh (winner of the last IPS HR in Rozvadov a fortnight ago), Marco Regonaschi and Giorgio Montebelli, all of whom were eliminated close to the end of late registration.

On the other hand, the two live regulars Andrea Fossati and Mario Ripepi, 291000 for the former and 191000 for the latter, are doing well, with 11th and 18th positions in the count. Slightly further behind is Michele Caroli, 22nd with 167000 chips.

A total of 25 out of 110 entries will make it to Day2, scheduled for Sunday 19 February. And now let's take a quick look at the standings at the end of Day1 G of this Grand Final which, as you already know, could not be completed in December as per tradition.
