Entries 193/Left 36
And so, the third flight of the IPO Nova Gorica is now in the books, with 193 entries collected (the highest number recorded in these first three days) and another 36 players guaranteed a spot in Day 2 on Sunday.
There are 81 qualifiers in total: the 36 from today plus the 45 from Day 1A and B, while the total number of entries has reached 501.
The best player today was Marco Leigheb (photo below), who led the chip count for most of the tournament and remained the chip leader at the end of the day. Here’s what he had to say as the bags were sealed:
“How did it go? I got lucky! - Marco jokes - I started strong because a guy shoved on the turn bluffing, and everything went downhill for him since then. The hand? I opened a rather lively player 3-bet, SB 4-bet, and I just called with A-K.
The flop came A-x-x. He bet 10,000, and I called. The turn was another blank. I bet 25,000, and he went all-in. I called, and he showed K-10, drawing dead on the turn. I’m not sure what he was trying to make me fold, but from then on, it was easier to be aggressive and build my stack.
The one who gave me the most trouble was him (pointing at Flaviano Cammisuli), who jokingly replied, ‘But I haven’t won a hand against you!’”
La Top 5
As for the top positions, less than ten big blinds behind today’s chip leader, we find Alessio Pasculli (546,000) and Leonardo Cinnirella (433,000) in second and third place, respectively.
