Four hundred and eighty-nine thousand ceramic chips. Put like that it could mean everything or nothing, though ReMida Poker Team Day2 qualifiers know well how to contextualize this information: it means 163 big blinds available to approach easily the second step of the last Eurorounders tournament of the year.
In fact, on Sunday, we start again at blinds 1K/3K, ante 3K, and a stack like the one accumulated by Marino Valerio, chip leader at Day1 E, is worth gold. Even more in optics "team", since the team with the best score will take home good 20 thousand euros.

The tournament
It was predictable that the music was about to change compared to yesterday's flight, and the 156 entries registered today proved that. There have been a lot of qualifiers, as many as 50 (1/3 of the total entries including re-entries) even if no one managed to undermine Davide Clodomiro's massive chip leading, who was able to bag 877,000 chips and look down on everyone (from very high up) at the resumption of play.
In the total tally of the 5 Day1s played so far, Marino's is the 9th stack, but we must remember that all qualifiers from the first 3 flights have already played Day2A, so in practice, it is the second-best stack among Sunday's Day2B qualifiers.
Here are Marino's words in the heat: "I started the tournament quite badly, losing a major hit that immediately dropped me to 30,000 chips. After some waiting I managed to double up in a spot where I opened from BTN J-5 off finding the BB's defense: the flop is J-5-5, he had Top Pair and to make a long story short we ended up all-in.
The key hand? I was with around 150K in chips, a fairly nitty gentleman opened, I flop from CO, BB squeezes, the original raiser folded and I called with Aces. Flop comes 10-9-8 with two Hearts, I checked, BB bet 1/3 pot and I called. Turn X, all-in, and call. He turned 9-9 (set, ed.), but the river is an Ace and all chips went on my side"
After this hand everything went smoothly, a few uncontested pots and a fairly soft table allowed me to take home the Day with an important stack ahead of Sunday."
The Top 5
We have spoken enough about today's chip leader, let check out now the other top stacks starting with the second in the count, Gianmarco Vassallo with 411,000, followed by Alessandro Campedelli just one blind away (405,000 for him, with the last level of play at T5,000).
Rounding out the Top 5 are Marco Tellini (358,000) and Mubarek Durmiši at 334,000. Notables include Mattia Festa (185,000), Roberto Roberti (171,000), Federico Anselmi (113,000), Martino Cito (107,000), Nicola Cappellesso (94,000) and Davide Cojaniz (68,000).
