Tue 30 July - 22:30 - Unofficial final table!
Before discussing the finalists, let’s briefly recount what happened from the 12 Left phase to the non-official final table. We conducted a short interview with the chip leader on Day 3, Mateusz Moolhuizen, who started as the favourite with over 40 million chips but, astonishingly, didn’t even make it to the final table, finishing in 11th place. Here are his immediate reactions.
"When you start with a stack like this, it's really unlikely not to make the final table, though sometimes it happens. In my case, I know how poker can be. It started at the beginning of the day. We flopped top set and lost a big pot. Then, again, with the same guy, I hit a nut flush, but he rivered me with a boat. So, that's how I dropped to 20M. I lost two times ten.
This should be a lesson to everyone that does this in life, how high the variance can be sometimes."
After him were Florian Prasanna Gunasekera (out for 26K) and Michal Stipsky (pic below) (10th), who bubbled the unofficial final table, while Attila Janos Almasi managed to get at least the WSOPE ME, ticket (and 33K in cash). Here's the list of the last eliminations.

Regarding the player still in the running, it is worth noting the roller coaster that Alessio Albore, a former IPO winner, has experienced. After climbing to over 25 million, he unfortunately encountered two significant coolers, which have now left him with around 10 big blinds.
On the first occasion, he had A-K against A-A, and in the second instance, he paid the price against an opponent who hit a set of 4s with top pair and second kicker. At his same table is the current chip leader of the tournament, Adrian Cazacu (with 48M) together with the second in chips, "Pepa G", the only ones boasting over 40 million chips.

The player from the Netherlands, Mateusz Moolhuizen, is leading the game before the end of the level, or rather, before the end of the half level, since play will continue for only 40 minutes and will resume the next day at the same level. He is the only one with over 30 million chips, equating to 3.5 times the average stack.

The average stack is 9,100,000, and there will be another two levels of 80 minutes each. During the last few levels, we witnessed a dramatic up and down by Gianluca Cabitza, an Italian player who, after being left with just one big blind, managed to climb back up by winning three consecutive showdowns, only to succumb to Sojak with Ace-Jack against 10-10, with about 17 big blinds in his stack.
