Entries 3.161
Regarding sporting achievements, you rarely hear someone say, “It was easy,” especially in poker, where you must contend with Lady Luck. Yet, from the moment Patrik Jaros took the lead in the count on Day 2, the feeling that the CNP Main Event already had a winner was strong, as if it were just a matter of time.
Having such an experienced player at the final table (Patrik regularly plays high-stakes cash games, favouring PLO) was surely not welcome news for the other finalists of this magnificent tournament, which saw 3,161 entries and a prize pool of over 1 million euros.
Last night’s triumph, without any deal, is just the latest in a long series of excellent results over the years. One is his 5th-place finish at the record-breaking EPT Barcelona in August 2022. In the same event, Giuliano Bendinelli lifted the trophy after being down to just one big blind.
Patrik began his journey at 11 AM on Sunday, registering for the Turbo flight after unsuccessfully attempting to qualify in the previous days. He ended up playing for something like 26 out of 36 hours. If that’s not considered a marathon, it’s close enough:
“In reality, I prefer to play straight through rather than waiting one or two days to return to the tables,” Patrik told us after the tournament. “It helps me stay focused, to feel the moment and live it to the fullest. Long cash game sessions are certainly the best training for this.”
Now it’s time to look back at the key moments of this fantastic final table, which concluded late into the night with Patrik Jaros standing tall above the rest, claiming a prize of €145,000 plus a ticket to the next WSOP Europe Main Event.
The finalists
There should have been nine players at the final table if it weren’t for the double “seat open” just minutes before the level change, with Viorel Gabriel Gavrila (at the TV table) and Rachid Benamar (at the outer table) both being eliminated within seconds of each other.
Here’s the situation at the start of the final table, with positions and stacks in play:

POS 2. 🇮🇹 Valerio Marino 11.325.000

The final table
After just a few orbits, the German Andre Winkler is the first to leave the pack, who can still be satisfied with his €13,900 prize plus a €10,350 ticket for the WSOPE Main Event.
Jaros is the undisputed leader and leverages his experience at the expense of his opponents, who find themselves up against him one by one. The first to fall victim is the German “Pistol Pete” (pictured below) in the following dynamic (Blinds 300K/600K/ante 600K):
Jaros opens with J♣️ 8♣️ from the BTN (stack 86BB), Camberg flats from the SB with 10♦️ 7♦️ (stack 26BB), and “PistolPete” completes from the BB with A♦️ 10♠️ (stack 44BB).
FLOP - (POT 5.7M) 4♣️ 10♣️ A♣️
Camberg donk-bets 1.5M, “PistolPete” raises to 3.5M, Patrik Jaros 3-bets to 8M. Camberg folds, and the action is back on “PistolPete,” who, after some thought, calls.
TURN - (POT 21.7M) 6♦️
After a check from “PistolPete,” Jaros bets 6M, and “PistolPete” calls again.
RIVER - (POT 33.7M) 2♦️
Jaros goes all-in, covering “PistolPete’s” remaining 12.5M. After several minutes of deliberation, “PistolPete” opts to call but mucks his hand upon seeing Jaros’s flush.
Jaros soars to 140BB in the count, with the second-place “Pyttel” holding 35BB, while “PistolPete” walks away with €19,700 (+ WSOPE Ticket) for his 7th place finish.
"Abrechner" is the 6th place finisher
Blinds 300K/600K/ante 600K
Jaros opens from HJ with A♣️ K♠️ (stack 127BB), and “Abrechner” defends from the BB with 9♦️ 8♦️ (stack 18BB).
FLOP - (POT 3.3M) 7♦️ K♦️ 7♠️ - Jaros bets 1BB, and “Abrechner” calls.
TURN - (POT 4.5M) 2♣️ - Jaros bets 1.3M (2.2BB), and “Abrechner” calls again.
RIVER - (POT 7.1M) 3♣️
“Abrechner” bets 4.8M, about 60% of the pot, and Jaros calls, winning the pot. “Abrechner” is left with just a few big blinds.
A few hands later, Jaros opens again from HJ with Q♥️ Q♦️ (stack 123BB). “Abrechner” goes all-in from the BB with A♣️ 8♦️ for his remaining 6BB, and Patrik calls. The cards are revealed.
BOARD - 8♥️ K♠️ 6♦️ Q♣️ 9♣️
Jaros eliminates another opponent, while “Abrechner” finishes in sixth place, earning €25,800 (+ WSOPE Ticket).
Walter Camber's run ended in 5th place
Blinds 400K/800K/ante 600K
Valerio Marino opens from UTG with Q♦️ 10♦️ (stack 20BB). Camberg, down to 4.9M, goes all-in from the BTN with A♥️ 8♠️. Pyttel calls from the SB with K♣️ Q♣️, leaving himself with 6.9M behind. The BB folds and Marino folds as well, leaving himself with 14BB.
FLOP - (POT 20.4M)
3♠️ 7♥️ J♠️ - Check-check
TURN - Q♥️ - Check-check
RIVER - 8♥️ - Check-check
Pyttel scoops a massive 20 million pot, and Camberg finishes in 5th place, earning €32,300 (+ WSOPE Ticket).
Valerio Marino out in 4th position
Blinds 400K/800K/ante 800K
After winning a small pot and returning to 18BB, Valerio Marino runs into a tough, cooler pre-flop against Markus Pyttel. Pyttel, from UTG in a 4-handed game, picks up K♦️ K♥️ (stack 32BB). The BTN folds, Marino goes all-in with A♥️ K♣️, the BB folds, and Pyttel calls.
BOARD (pot 30.8M) - 6♦️ 10♥️ 10♦️ Q♥️ 6♣️
Valerio Marino has to settle for 4th place and a prize of €40,000 (+ WSOPE Ticket). It’s another great result after his 4th place finish at the IPO Sanremo just a few months ago.
Cristian Visiou is the 3rd place finisher
Blinds 800K/1.6M ante 1.6M
It’s worth mentioning that with blinds at 300K/600K and a 600K ante, Visoiu was on the brink of elimination. Jaros, in the CO, finds K♠️ K♠️ and opens the action, while Visoiu in the BB, holding J♥️ J♣️, goes all-in for about 17BB. Patrik calls, and they go to showdown.
BOARD - 2♦️ 7♥️ 6♣️ 5♠️ J♦️
A stunning Jack on the river keeps the Romanian in the game, while Jaros remains firmly in the lead, though his victory is only postponed.
In the 3-handed phase, with just 9BB left, Cristian Visoiu goes all-in from the BTN with A♦️ 5♠️, and Jaros, the chip leader with 80BB, calls from the SB with A♣️ 8♣️. Pyttel folds.
BOARD - 10♠️ 4♦️ 9♦️ 6♠️ J♣️
They’re down to two players, with Jaros holding a commanding lead with 90BB against Markus Pyttel’s 7BB, while Visoiu settles for €55,300 (+ WSOPE Ticket).
Patrik Jaros takes the glory, Pyttel runner-up
Blinds 800K/1.6M ante 1.6M
The finale came after Pyttel managed to double his chips. Jaros, holding K♦️ 3♠️, went all-in, and Pyttel called with 4♦️ 4♣️ for a pot that could have brought him back to around 20BB. However, the board ran K♣️ 6♦️ 3♣️ 8♠️ K♠️, and Jaros could finally lift the trophy.
German Markus Paul Pyttel still walks away with a substantial prize of €79,500 (+WSOPE Ticket), leaving Jaros with the biggest share.
