After 17 30-minute levels, Day 1C Speed of the IPS Italian Poker Sport Main Event concluded with 21 players qualifying for Day 2, scheduled for Sunday, August 30 at 5:00 p.m.
Leading the way is Israel’s Deddi Or Paz with 1,536,000 chips, thanks to an incredible finish and an early gift from Germany’s Roschdi Haves in the following hand:
Haves opened from middle position, and Or Paz 3-bet from the big blind. Haves then moved all in with a 4-bet, and the Israeli made the snap-call.
Deddi Or Paz: A♣️ K♣️
Haves: K♠️ 9♦️
The board remained jack-high, and Or Paz climbed to half a million chips.
Germany’s Habibi finished second in chips with 1,266,000 after putting his tournament life at risk in a spectacular hand.
Habibi’s big hand: He got involved in a three-way pot holding A♠️ J♠️. The players went all in on the flop, leading to a dramatic runout that completed the German’s spade flush on the turn and eliminated an opponent holding Q❤️ Q♦️.
Board: 7♠️ 5♦️ 10♠️ Q♠️ 8♠️
More quietly, his fellow German Jackychen bagged 938,000 chips.
Rounding out the top five are Lithuania’s Marijus Dirgela with 853,000 chips and China’s Xiaohua Yang with 851,000.
Italy’s Maurizio Giuliana also qualified with 244,000 chips, the only Italian player to advance.
There were two additional eliminations, with 35 places paid today and a minimum cash of €760. Players finished at blinds of 10,000/15,000/15,000, with an average stack of 542,857 chips.
