Entries 816/ Left 122

The IPO, Italian Poker Open, Main Event gets through its day as well, and today it recorded 816 entries, adding another 122 players to Day 2, which will be played on Sunday.

The best of all today is the Italian Micky Blasi, a rather well-known face on the Italian scene, who manages to reach the top of the count, bagging 830,000 chips, equivalent to 139 big blinds at the Day 2 restart. Here’s what he told us right after the bagging.

“Considering I drove eight hours and wasn’t feeling well, I’d say it went pretty well. I fired two bullets, but ended the day in good shape.

In the last two levels, I won a couple of key hands. In one, I made a full house against a straight in a well-played spot. On the other, I slow-played pocket kings with about thirty big blinds. The big blind squeezed, another player shoved with A-K, and I hit an ace. Got a bit lucky there, but overall it was all smooth.

It’s always a great experience — the field is amazing, and the structure is excellent. I think they changed the Day 1 format; it’s no longer ITM, but that’s fine. It brings more entries and builds a bigger prize pool. I like it this way.”
