The first of today’s two scheduled flights at the Casino di Sanremo — Day 1F of the Italian Poker Open Main Event — has officially come to an end. The flight drew 1,036 entries and added another 156 players to the Day 2 lineup, which will resume at 1 PM on Sunday.
It was an intense day of poker that saw Italian player Salvatore Ricciardi take the spotlight, bagging 885,000 chips — good enough not only to top this flight but also to lead the overall chip counts across all six flights played so far. The final turbo flight, Day 1G Speed, is currently underway as we write.
Here’s what today’s standout had to say right after bagging up his chips:

“It was a smooth day. I only had to re-enter once and got lucky in two key hands. In one, I was in the big blind with 9-7. The flop came 7-7-9 with two diamonds. We both checked all the way until the river, then I bet and he called with a flush — 4-5 of diamonds — but my full house held.
The other crucial hand was also from the big blind, this time with 6-3 of clubs. The flop came 7 of spades, 5, and an Ace. My opponent had pocket Aces, but I hit a straight and took that one down too. I should be the overall chip leader now — the previous leader had 830,000 and I’m ahead of that. Let’s see if we can make something good out of it tomorrow.”
Top 5
As for the Top 5 of the Day 1F chip counts, behind Ricciardi’s 885,000 we find Dada Montasar with 881,000 and Pierre Molinic with 785,000. Rounding out the top spots are Angelo Marrone (765,000) and Stylianos Karadaglidis (754,000).
Below is the full list of 156 players from Day 1F who will return tomorrow with a sealed bag of chips for Day 2.
