Day 1B of the People’s Poker Tour Main Event has wrapped up with 101 total entries, and 13 more players punching their ticket to Day 2, set for Sunday at 3:00 PM.

Leading the pack is Italy’s Cesare Guarini, who absolutely crushed it today. On just his second live poker trip—so he told us right after bagging—he managed to seal the top spot with a massive 1,049,000 chips, locking up the provisional lead and scooping the two bonus tickets reserved for the chip leader. Here’s what he had to say at the end of the day:

"My day? Yes, it was a beautiful one. I had a lot of good hands going my way. The last hand… well, we all know it. There’s a raise, I limp, shove from UTG+2, original raiser calls, I call. Flop comes Jack, Ace, 3. Original raiser checks, I bet, he shoves, and I call. So yeah, very, very good Day 1. Really, really good.

I’m not an experienced player, not at all. It’s just my second poker trip. The first was in Malta, and it didn’t go bad, while this second one started well, so let’s see how it ends. We’re already got the ITM plus two tickets, can’t complain at all!"

Top 5

Looking at today’s Top 5, right behind Guarini is Szymon Patryk Politowski from Poland with 968,000, thanks in part to a wild bubble hand: he fired two streets on a blank board holding pocket fours, then spiked a 4 on the river and shoved—all-in, getting looked up by his opponent.

Mosi closes in third with 691,000, followed by Giuseppe Pietruzella (555,000) and Giovanni Capitano (455,000).

Scroll down for the full list of the 13 players who made it through Day 1B and will be back in action on Sunday for Day 2.
