Day 1A of the 💍 WSOP Circuit Main Event has come to an end here at King’s Resort Rozvadov, closing with 154 total entries and 24 players qualified for Day 2.

Leading the field at the end of the day is Mexico’s José Gómez Casillas, who bags an impressive 1,100,000 chips to finish as the Day 1A chip leader. We caught up with him right after the bags were sealed to hear his first impressions of the day:

“I really liked how this day went. I started playing around Level 9, right after busting the High Roller, and things moved very fast from there. I managed to build my stack from 50,000 to 1.1 million chips, which obviously put me in a great position.

I did have a couple of coolers early on, but after that I won three key 50/50 spots, and from there I focused on stealing a lot of pots. Once I had chips, I felt I could really put pressure on the table, and that made a big difference. I was constantly applying pressure and using my stack to control the action.

Overall, I’m very happy with how I played today. I’ve been playing a lot lately — the Mini Mystery Bounty, some cash games, the Mini Main Event, and the High Roller today — so it’s been a busy stretch, but it feels good to see things coming together.

Now I’m looking forward to Day 2. Thank you very much.”
