🇮🇹 Angelo Marrone is Day1 B chip leader!

Entries 70/ Left 281

It’s been another fantastic day of poker here at Casino Sanremo. Day 1B of the WSOP Circuit Main Event concluded after a €1,000 buy-in that drew 281 entries, advancing another 70 players to Day 2 on Sunday.

The chip leader for the day is Italy’s Angelo Marrone, who bagged 493,000 chips, equivalent to 123 big blinds for the Day 2 restart. Angelo shared a brief recap of his tournament:

It was a pretty tough tournament, especially at the start, as I was eliminated after only four hands and had to re-enter. I decided to take a break for lunch and relax a bit before sitting back down with 50 big blinds. Coincidentally, I eliminated the same player who knocked me out in the first bullet! After that hand, I climbed to around 200,000 chips, and from there, it was all smooth sailing.”

Any noteworthy hands? I won a big pot with pocket fives against all post-flop Q-J on a Q-5-x board where my opponent decided to check-shove, running into my set. Other than that, it was pretty standard; nothing special to mention. I’m just hoping to perform well on Sunday.

Top 5

Looking at the top five, besides Angelo Marrone, who, as noted, advanced with 493,000 chips, we have Claudio Di Giacomo in second place. He was a standout until the final hands of the day but narrowly missed the chip lead due to a spot with pocket tens on a 2-2-3-x board. He lost a decent portion of his stack to an opponent who likely held trips, taking two streets of value.

In third is Daniele Cori with 460,000 chips, Marco Regonaschi with 451,000 and Francesco Biribad with 432,000. A special mention goes to Martina Pellegrini, one of the few women to qualify for Day 2, ending the day in sixth place with 394,000 after a stellar showing at the table.

+According to official data published on Texapoker.net, Gabriele Lepore appears in ninth position with 345,000 chips. However, after speaking with Gabriele, we learned his actual stack: 34,500. It is a simple transcription error (or perhaps a mistake in recording on the bag), which we’ve noted here as a side note for the sake of accuracy.
