Entries 442/ Left 111
Day 1C of the WSOP Circuit Main Event with a €1,000 buy-in concluded past midnight, attracting 442 entries and advancing another 111 players to Day 2 this afternoon.
France’s Jean-Marc Chiba is leading the field; he bagged 775,000 chips at the end of the day after winning a particularly crucial pot, which he recounted to us afterwards:
“The decisive hand was against a player with a similar stack (around 300,000). I opened for 2x, got a flat call, and then a squeeze from the big blind to 6BB. Holding A-J suited, I called, and the flat caller folded. The flop came 4-9-2 rainbow; he bet 20,000, and I called. The turn was a 2 of hearts, opening up my flush draw, and my opponent bet 65,000. I called again.
The river brought a J that didn’t complete the flush draw. He went all-in, and I tanked for about two minutes before finally calling, only to see him with K-J offsuit. That was the hand that set me up for the day. From there, my stack allowed me to apply some pressure and win a few uncontested pots.”
