🇮🇹 Francesco Di Domenico on fire on Day2!

Entries 1050/ Left 24

Day 2 of the WSOP Circuit Main Event ended shortly before 2 a.m., with a total of 1,050 entries, narrowing the field down to 24 players who will advance to the final round, scheduled to begin today at 1 p.m.

Leading the pack is Francesco Di Domenico, the only player to surpass the 200 big blind mark, with an impressive stack of 9,150,000 chips. It’s worth noting that play paused at blinds of 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 ante.

Di Domenico dominated the day, stacking up millions and finishing with 9,150,000 chips, or 229 big blinds, placing him at more than double the stack of the second chip leader. Here’s how he did it:

“How did it go? Let’s just say I started the day with about 180,000, around thirty big blinds. I slowly worked my way up to 550,000, but after losing a few pots during the bubble, I found myself with around 130,000, about 15 big blinds. Ironically, during the bubble, I started building my stack back up, even though I was short!

Once I reached the ITM, I climbed back to over 400,000, and after switching tables to one that turned out to be quite favourable, I shifted gears.

The two key hands were as follows: the first one was against Shevchenko, where I won a pot of nearly 5 million. It was level T30: he opened to 75K, got one flat, and I 3-bet to 275K with Q-Q. He called, and the flat caller folded.

The flop was 6-3 hearts and 2 of diamonds. He checked I bet 185K, and he called. The turn was a black 4; we both checked. The river was a Jack, he checked again, I bet 485K, and he thought for a moment and then raised to 2 million. I thought it over, noting that I'd still be near average even if I lost the hand. Most importantly, his story didn’t add up, so I called. He showed A-7 of hearts.

In one of the last hands, the cutoff opened, the button 3-bet with A-!, and I called with A-10. The flop came Q-J-, I checked, he bet 185K, and I called. We both checked the turn. The river was a K; he bet 465K, and I thought for a moment and raised to 2.090 million. He snap-called and showed K-Q (top two pair).

Did I expect a day like this? You always hope for it but expect it… especially during this period when I’ve been playing so little. The results haven’t been bad either: both in the last IPO and at the EPM, I finished around 60th and 70th out of over 3,000 people. And here we are today!”
