Day 1A of the WSOP Circuit Main Event (€1,500 buy-in) comes to an end deep into the night. The flight closed with 85 total entries, including re-entries, and produced 11 qualifiers for Sunday’s Day 2.

It was a day dominated from start to finish by Samir Taouint, who sealed the top spot with a bag of 759,000 chips, equal to 76 big blinds, and clearly set the pace across the entire session. Right after play ended, he shared his first reactions on camera:

“I arrived here around 11:20 p.m., maybe 11:30. Everything went well from the start — good feeling, good spots, solid decisions. It was my first bullet of the day and I immediately found the right rhythm.

I played against strong opponents, real professionals. It’s not new for me: over the years I’ve already faced big names, in different periods of my life, in environments where the overall level was even tougher than today. That experience helps — I know what to expect at the table.

Poker isn’t my main job anymore; my work now is in real estate. But the game is still something I understand well, something I’ve spent years learning. And when I sit down to play, I still feel I can compete at a high level. That’s all there is to it — tonight everything simply went right.”

For what concerns the Top 5, Taouint leads with 759,000, followed by Maarek Jordan on 745,000. Third place goes to Ashour Maher with 538,000, while Giuseppe Zarbo (463,000) and Jean-René Vignac (459,000) close out the top group.

The full list of Day 1A survivors follows, which includes a notable name: Davidi Kitai, the Belgian Winamax pro, advancing in tenth position with roughly 21 big blinds.
