The second of today’s two scheduled flights at the Casino di Sanremo — Day 1G in Speed format with 30-minute levels — has officially wrapped up, adding another 93 players to the Day 2 field, which resumes at 1 PM.
Today’s flight recorded 616 entries, adding to the 1,000+ from the earlier Day 1F, for a staggering total of over 1,600 entries in a single day.
The man of the moment is Italian-Chinese player Xialin, who not only bagged the overall chip lead but also became the only player so far to surpass the one million mark, sealing the day with 1,043,000 chips.
Not much of a talker, but clearly satisfied with his performance, we asked him for a few quick thoughts. Here’s what he told us.
“I had a few nice hands today… Always nuts! I ran like crazy, such insane luck!”
(At that point, we told him: “Yeah, but they also have to call you to get value!”)
“Of course! But I always have the nuts — they better pay when I do! What are the blinds tomorrow, 6K? Wow, that’s 180 big blinds!”
Top 5
As for the Top 5, leading the way is overall chip leader Xia Lin with 1,043,000 chips. Right behind him is Filippo Becchini with 780,000, followed by Luca Moglia with 748,000.
In fourth place we have Mirko Abraccinante with 728,000, and closing out the Top 5 is Manuel Ferrari with 650,000 chips. Below is the full chip count list featuring all 92 players who qualified for Day 2 from Day 1G.
