🇩🇪 Kevin Schnitzler dominates on Day1 A!

Entries 74/ Left 12

Day 1A of the Sharkbay Main Event with a €200,000 guaranteed prize pool has just concluded here at Casino Velden am Wörthersee, one of Austria's most beautiful poker locations.

74 entries (including re-entries) were recorded on this opening day, but only 12 players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday.

The best performer of the day was German player Kevin Schnitzler, who finished with a stack of 724,000 chips, equivalent to 150 big blinds, as blinds had reached 2K/5K with a 5K ante by the last level of play. Here are his immediate thoughts:

It was my second bullet; the first one went terribly, but on the second attempt, things turned around, and I managed to build up chips fairly quickly. The key hand? Towards the end of the day, I was moved to a table with a particularly aggressive player who literally gifted me a huge pot.

I had K-K in position, and I decided to 3-bet his open, and he called. On a Q-high board, he checked, I made a small bet, and he went all-in for about 4-5 times the pot. At the moment, I couldn’t understand what he was doing, and even though I had two Kings, I took a minute to think before making the call.

What did he have? 3-3, and his all-in was for 280,000, so it was a truly massive pot. Yes, it was quite the gift… No, I’m not a professional; I often play and love tournaments, but there’s still a long way between me and a true pro. Hopefully, I can do well on Day 2 with this stack!

La Top 5

Along with Kevin Schnitzler, the chip leader with 724,000, Austrian Stefano Rebernig is in second place with 542,000, and Kosovar Bashkim Kryeziu (pictured above), who was a key player for much of the tournament, is in third place with 487,000 chips.

On our blog, available at THIS LINK, we covered the hand that sent him soaring in the provisional chip count towards the end of the tenth level of play. Rounding out the Top 5 are two Russian players, Sergey Sotnikov with 434,000 and Monika Kostanjevec with 231,000. Scrolling further down the post, you can find the complete list of all 12 qualifiers with their respective stacks.
