After four hours of intense play, the €500 WSOP Circuit Main Event came to an end, crowning Georgios Vrakas as the new champion.
The Greek player defeated José Gómez Casillas heads-up, securing €164,000, while the Mexican runner-up collected €109,500 for his deep run.
Along with the first prize, Vrakas also earned the €5,000 King’s Million package and, most importantly, his first WSOP Circuit ring.
A particularly meaningful victory, considering that back in 2016, in the very same event, he finished fourth, narrowly missing the title for just over €80,000. This time, however, the story ended very differently, with the trophy finally in his hands. At the end of the tournament, Vrakas shared his thoughts:
"Winning always feels great, and I’m really happy about this result, especially because it’s my first WSOP Circuit ring. I already have several PokerStars trophies at home, but this one is special.
The ultimate dream would be to win a bracelet, although with the massive fields in the United States it’s extremely difficult. It’s probably more realistic at the WSOP Europe, with smaller fields, and that’s definitely something I’ll try in Prague. For now, it remains a dream.
In my daily life I’m a businessman, that’s my main job, and I consider poker a hobby. That said, I don’t approach it in an amateur way — it’s still profitable.
Recently I also won the SCOOP Main Event Medium on PokerStars, a $1,000 buy-in event for half a million dollars, so both online and live I really can’t complain.
As for staying calm during the decisive showdowns, decisions are made before the cards are turned. Once the runout starts, it’s out of your hands, so I stayed relaxed throughout."
The final table

The final table unfolded quickly, with several eliminations happening in rapid succession.
Victor Guillaume Alban Pahon exited in 8th place for €14,000, followed by Deep Kandra Singh, who finished 7th for €18,400.
In 6th place, Dominique Potenza collected €23,500, before Szymon Patryk Politowski bowed out in 5th for €29,700.
The action intensified as the field narrowed further. Youssef Aananouch finished 4th, earning €37,000, while Helmut Phung, one of the tournament’s standout protagonists and a major bounty hunter throughout the event, secured €52,000 for 3rd place.
Heads-up play then saw Georgios Vrakas and José Gómez Casillas battle for the ring. After a hard-fought duel, Vrakas emerged victorious, sealing the biggest win of his live career and confirming his excellent form both live and online.
Below is the final payout for the Top 8:
Georgios Vrakas – €164,000
José Gómez Casillas – €109,500
Helmut Phung – €52,000
Youssef Aananouch – €37,000
Szymon Patryk Politowski – €29,700
Dominique Potenza – €23,500
