Entries 2785

The Pirates Poker Treasure Main Event ended with the victory of Romania’s Paul Adrian Covaciu, in a tournament that recorded 2,785 entries and crowned the Romanian regular, a familiar face at King’s Resort for several years and a frequent presence in Euro Rounders events.

It was a very important title for him, as he told us in the winner’s interview you can find on our social channels, especially on Instagram, Facebook and Threads, and above all a result that makes up for a period in which, from a poker point of view, things had not been going his way.

It was a win built with determination, considering that Paul had been left with fewer than 10 big blinds at the 7-handed stage after losing a 70-30 spot, but then, thanks to excellent table management, he still managed to make it all the way to heads-up and even come back from behind against his final opponent.

Let’s now go through the entire final table hand by hand, starting from the lineup and the opening stacks

The Final Table

  1. 🇮🇹 Tonino Sturzo – 31.1M

  2. 🇬🇷 Nikolaos Kontizas – 28.5M

  3. 🇩🇪 Sven Meschede – 26.2M

  4. 🇸🇪 Vasilis Nikolas – 25.4M

  5. 🇷🇴 Paul Adrian Covaciu – 19.5M

  6. 🇮🇱 Michael Teplitski – 10.8M

  7. 🇩🇪 Enrico Linke – 9.6M

  8. 🇵🇱 Maciej Kacper Kala – 8M

  9. 🇩🇪 Christoph Stadelmann – 7M

At the final table of the Pirates Poker Treasure Main Event, the first player to bust is one of the tournament’s key figures, Poland’s Maciej Kacper Kala, who moves all-in with K♠2♣ in a small blind vs big blind spot against Tonino Sturzo, holding A♠10♦. The board runs 4♣ 10♠ 3♦ 4♦ 5♠, sending the Pole out in 9th place.

Shortly after, Christoph Stadelmann follows, shoving around 10 big blinds from the hijack with A♣2♣ and getting called by Mishka Poker on the button with A♠K♦. They go to a preflop showdown, and the board 4♣ Q♦ 5♠ J♣ 5♦ eliminates Stadelmann in 8th place.

The game continues for a couple of hours thanks to the deep structure, until a key moment unfolds: Paul Adrian Covaciu opens from UTG and Tonino Sturzo shoves from the small blind for about 12 big blinds with A♣J♦. Covaciu calls with A♠K♣. The flop 9♦ 5♣ 8♠ keeps the Romanian ahead, but the J♠ on the turn flips the situation, and the 5♥ river seals the pot for Sturzo, who climbs back to around 30 big blinds while Covaciu drops to 9. Notably, Covaciu had turned down a deal just before this hand — and this is where his comeback begins.

Within a few hands, he’s back in contention and scores a crucial knockout against Sven Meschede (CASCO): Meschede shoves 10♠9♦ from the cutoff, Covaciu calls with A♣K♦ on the button. The board A♦ 10♣ 4♠ 5♣ K♠ sends Meschede out in 6th place, while Covaciu climbs back above 30 big blinds.

About ninety minutes later, Tonino Sturzo is eliminated by Nikolaos “Cody” Kontizas in an 80–20 situation: K♠K♦ vs 2♣2♦. The board 8♠ J♦ A♣ A♦ 10♣ holds, and Sturzo finishes in 6th place.

At 5 left, stacks are very close, with four players between 25 and 33 big blinds, while Cody is shorter. Soon after, the Greek player is eliminated by Covaciu in a similar spot: 2♣2♦ against A♦Q♠. The board K♠ 4♦ 5♣ 10♦ 10♣ sends Cody out in 5th place, and Covaciu enters four-handed play as the clear chip leader.

At this stage, a four-way deal is reached, leaving some money aside for the winner. Shortly after, Vasilis Nikolas busts in 4th place, all-in with K♠Q♦ against 5♠5♦ from Mishka Poker. The board 8♣ 2♦ 10♠ 2♣ 4♠ confirms his elimination.

Down to three players, Lucky761 moves all-in with Q♦J♠ against K♣J♦ from Mishka Poker. The board Q♣ 10♠ 4♦ 3♣ 4♠ gives the pot to the underdog, setting up heads-up between Lucky761 and Paul Adrian Covaciu, with Lucky holding roughly a 2:1 chip lead.

Within twenty minutes, Covaciu turns it around. In the final hand, Lucky761 raises with A♠A♦, Covaciu defends, and they get all-in on a flop of 9♥ 6♣ 5♥, where the Romanian holds a combo draw. The turn 2♥ adds even more outs, and the river 6♥ completes a straight flush, sealing the title for Paul Adrian Covaciu, who claims around €100,000 total and the trophy after a comeback built step by step.
