The Wolf Millionaire Main Event has come to an end at King’s Resort Rozvadov. From the €1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, the tournament finally found its champion: France’s Victor Guillaume Alban Pahon.

After a heads-up deal with German player Roman Lucas Sartori, Pahon walked away with €135,000Ā plus a WSOP Europe Main Event ticket. It was a dream day for the French amateur, who had started the final table with the fourth-biggest stack and managed to survive through the toughest phases of the tournament.

By the time he reached heads-up play, he held a 2-to-1 chip advantage, which allowed him to negotiate a favorable deal and eventually claim the additional €23,000Ā reserved for the winner.

Before diving into his first impressions, here’s a look back at the final table line-up:

Here’s what Victor Guillaume Alban Pahon had to say right after sealing his victory:

"So, how did it go? Well, overall I think it went pretty well, even though the final table was really tough. There were two massive stacks and a lot of short stacks, and I was sitting there in the middle with kind of an average stack. That meant I couldn’t really move at the beginning, I couldn’t play too many hands.

I tried to take a first spot, I think it was with a straight, I went for a bluff… but it didn’t go through. So suddenly I was short. And from there I had to deal with so much pressure. I really couldn’t do much because the big stacks were raising all the time, putting pressure on everyone. So I had to wait, just wait for the shorts to bust. It was frustrating because I couldn’t play my game, I couldn’t open the hands I wanted, I just had to fold and be patient.

Then, once the short stacks were gone, the pressure kind of disappeared. I started to feel better, more comfortable. I could finally play my own game. And I picked up some nice premium hands at the right moments, which helped me climb back up.

In the end it turned into a great run. I started the final table with the fourth biggest stack and I ended up here… I don’t know if it was luck or skill, maybe a bit of both, but it feels huge. Really huge. Especially in a tournament like this — it’s not something that happens every day.

And no, I’m not a professional. I work in the pharmaceutical industry, poker is more like a passion for me, something I do when I have time. And that makes it even more special: going this deep, handling the pressure, taking home such a result… for me it’s really something big. An experience I’ll carry with me for a long time.ā€
